"Sami Swings" with Christ in memorial lifesize bronze
Tugging at the heart of every parent is the love of one's child.  Losing a child is devastating, and Christ's welcoming arms provide solace for a parent's void.  That is part of the inspiration in Tom's "Sami Swings," dedicated to young Samantha Ann "Sami" McDonald who now is secure eternally with her Lord.
In this memorial life-size bronze, Tom captures Sami's spirit and the holding power of Jesus in this scene placed at the Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky, under the gnarled branches of an ancient wingnut tree.
A smiling Jesus holds the ropes of three-year-old Sami. The words to her favorite song, "Jesus Loves Me," are etched in the granite rock beneath her bare feet.
It's the scene her parents, Debi and Geoff McDonald, have treasured ever since Sami's accidental drowning in 2006, and how they saw her earlier that fateful day — swinging and singing,
"Jesus loves me, this I know...."
Sami's mom, Debi, started the ministry "Sam's Rock" as an encouragement to parents who have lost their children, and is a much sought-after speaker.  Tom specializes in portrait bronze memorials.
