of innocence, longing, and personal toys (trains)
The "Will and His Trains" sculpture is of a modern young boy wearing a special shirt and carrying his prized possession: his small, toy train.
Tom was asked to create a lifesize portrait memorial bronze sculpture of Will Poteet-Berndt by his loving parents, Susanne and Susanne & Bill.
Will, who suffered from leukemia most of his life and succumbed at age 4, was a precious little boy who loved to play with his Thomas the Tank Engine.
Tom created the sculpture of him wearing his favorite t-shirt with a monkey face flap and his little tennis shoes, which his parents provided for Tom to sculpt into this family remembrance for Will. His three sisters are seen affectionately bringing flowers to his gravesite at Cavehill Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
Tom specializes in tender, figurative portrait bronzes of children and would be honored to discuss any commission sculptures you might have in mind.
